Parents Sue Over Reading of "King & King"

Okay, so here's one for my, "How FUCKING dumb is that?" category.

The plaintiffs in the case, Joseph and Robin Wirthlin and David and Tonia Parker, describe themselves as "devout Christians." Their main problem -- other than being bigoted, hateful fuck-heads -- is that they feel they were not given the opportunity to exclude their children from the lesson. Here is an excerpt from a Washington Times article:
In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs accuse Lexington Public Schools and the town of Lexington of breaking the commonwealth of Massachusetts' so-called "opt-out law." The statute requires public schools to notify parents when the instructional curriculum "primarily involves human sexual education or human sexual issues," so that concerned parents can remove their children from class.

The story in question involves a prince who, when encouraged to marry by his parents, sets out to find another prince. It has nothing to do with sex education or human sexuality -- any more than fairy tales like Cinderella or Snow White do.

Christian terrorists, like the Wirthlins and the Parkers, are motivated by irrational fear and deep seated hatred. They believe that absolutely everyone MUST conform to their narrow-minded dogma.

Robin, dear, unwad your panties, sit down for a moment and pay attention: if you don't want your child to be taught lessons of tolerance and acceptance, then there is a simple solution -- either home-school him or enroll him in private school.

Free Speech or Hate Speech

Teenager Tyler Harper, a student at Poway High School, sued his school's administration after it prohibited him from wearing the shirt pictured here. As you can see, the back reads, "Homosexuality is shameful" and includes a biblical citation. On the front, it says, "Be ashamed, our school embraced what God has condemned."

I have to ask: at what point does free speech become hate speech?
hate speech n.
Bigoted speech attacking or disparaging a social or ethnic group or a member of such a group.

Let's face it: the world will always harbor hate groups like the KKK and Christian terrorists like young Tyler here. These Christian terrorists claim there's a double standard: they think that if a school system supports a GSA, then it should also allow expressions of hate such as this. Come on, guys, that's asinine.

Tyler, you're supposed to go to school to learn. If you want to hate, do what everyone else does, go to church.

King & King Stirs Controversy

The book, titled "King & King", stirred controversy when Heather Kramer read the book to her second grade class. The article explains that, "The reading was part of a 'wedding' theme for the day - and because gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts, Kramer felt it was appropriate to read the story despite not being part of the established curriculum."

One of the boys apparently ran home and told his mommy, Robin Wirthlin, whose panties quickly wadded up rather tightly.

Of course, she felt compelled to confront the school's superintendent, who responded:
"We couldn't run a public school system if every parent who feels some topic is objectionable to them for moral or religious reasons decides their child should be removed," Superintendent Paul Ash said to the Boston Globe.

"Lexington is committed to teaching children about the world they live in, and in Massachusetts same-sex marriage is legal."
Legality aside, poor Robin's panties were still tightly wadded:
"They're trying to indoctrinate our children," Robin Wirthlin fired back.
An unattributed OP-ED article in the Eagle-Tribune reads:
It's hypocritical that some of the same people who demand that 7-year-olds learn in schools about homosexuality are outraged that someone would suggest to 11- and 12-year-olds that they not have sex until they are married. It seems that, in the liberals' world of "tolerance," some lessons on sex are perfectly fine, while others are not allowed at all.
Second things first: suggesting to 11 and 12-year-olds that they not have sex until they are married isn't really the issue. Abstinence is the only certain way to avoid sexually transmitted diseases. That's a fact. The issue is when that's the ONLY message.

As a parent, you may indoctrinate your children with your religious and moral dogma as you see fit, and if you instruct your children to be abstinent, they may actually comply. Chances are, however, that most of them would probably engage in premarital sex
, given the opportunity, so if they don't understand how to use a condom, don't know that they should use one each and every time they engage in sexual activities or don't have access to them when needed, they're playing Russian roulette with their dicks.

Let's make something perfectly clear: teaching your children about diversity is not indoctrination. Lessons about tolerance and acceptance will not make your children gay. Even considering the possibility is completely asinine.

Let's assume that you are heterosexual. Consider, for a moment, the story in this "controversial" children's book. What impact would it have had on you? Would it have ever compelled you to feel attracted to or have desires for a member of your own sex? I think not. Why, then, do you think it would be any different for your children?

The fact is that it won't, so get over it.

Pope Uses Easter To Attack Gay Families

The esteemed, supreme leader of the Catholic church, Der Fuhrer himself, has said that:
The world is in the grip of "a diabolical pride aimed at eliminating the family".
Gay marriage and adoption will eliminate the family?

Let me see if I've got this right. Gay marriage -- gay men and women marrying their same-sex partners -- will eliminate the family? Gay men, women and couples adopting children will eliminate the family? Ummm... Does he really believe that? Does he even begin to understand how fucking asinine that sounds?

Let me ask you this: if you meet a shriveled up old man who's never been married and lives with a bunch of other guys who all parade around in dresses claiming they speak for God, then do you really want to take his advice about what your family should be and do?

Gay Wiseguy

The first gay character on Sopranos is outed while partying at a leather bar and ends up going to a cheap motel room with an automatic pistol. He pretty much has two choice, right:
  1. Hunt down the fuckers who are going to out him to the boss and whack 'em
  2. Suck on the end of his pistol and pull the trigger

The fact of the matter is that most gay men are boring, average, every-day guys, who just happen to enjoy sucking cock. But I guess that HBO thinks that the only way a gay story line will pay off for them is if Vito turns out to be a leather daddy that blows his fucking brains out.

We live in a world of cliches and stereotypes. Just shoot me now.

Sartain, the new Hitler?

In this op-ed piece, Joel Sartain writes:
First, I'd like you to know that we, the straight community, do love you. Your sexuality is not a problem with us. We don't mind employing you, working for you, sitting next to you at the ball game or eating dinner next to you in our restaurants. We don't mind living with you. Hey, we're all in the same race we call life.

However, we do have one issue with you. And, when discussing issues like this, it's best to get to the point. Your flamboyancy kills whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. That is your number one problem: flamboyancy. Is it clear? Flamboyancy.
Flamboyancy? Really? Is that it?
The multitude of stickers plastered on cars and walls around the country, the seemingly intentional intimate cuddling in public, the marches, the lousy editorial columns, the heralding of your makeshift heroes...the list goes on -- they're making us question our across-the-board tolerance of the gay community.
The multitude of stickers plastered on cars. Hmmm. You mean like all of those assholes out there with W04 stickers on their Ford FUV's?
You said yesterday: "As it stands, anyone can be fired for being gay..." George! Relax brotha. As it stands, my arms could fall off. As it stands, trees could start talking. As it stands, a gay man could become president. As it stands, gravity could cease to exist. There are infinite things that could happen but simply won't. Nobody is fired for being gay.
Nobody is fired for being gay? What about Cheryl Summerville? In 1991, she was fired from Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for being gay. So, to suggest that getting fired for being gay is as unlikely as gravity ceasing to exist is completely asinine.
More seriously, SMU and Dallas, Texas, are not the places for an outspoken, offensive, anti-Republican, flamboyant, gay movement to attempt to change the way society categorizes deviant behavior. That is the plain and simple truth, which may hurt.
Well, apparently that's where outspoken, offensive, Republican, anti-gay fuck-heads like you live.

You expect us to "tone it down a little bit." You suggest that if we feel unwelcomed by your hateful and bigoted attitudes, that we should "migrate to a more welcoming area." Why should we, especially when annoying you is so much fun?

Assholes like you do characterize homosexuality as a deviant behavior. That's the problem. Going away and leaving you alone, however, isn't going to solve that problem. We're here, and we're not going to hide in the closet anymore. Sure, you may berate us for holding hands or kissing in public, but, hell, we've had to put up with that shit from you for centuries.
There are plenty of pockets of wacko liberals who accept any and everybody. You guys would feel truly welcome there. They probably think their president is trying to kill them, too!
Wacko liberals? Wow. Big words from a
little pissant college sophomore who can't decide what the fuck he's going to do with his life. No, Joel. I think we'll stick around just to piss you off and make your life as uncomfortable as you make ours.

And, BTW, if Adolph Bush thought he could get away with it, he would kill every gay person in America. So be a good little fascist: click your heels, salute Der Fuhrer with a resounding "Heil Bush", and goose step your homophobic ass back to your dorm room.

Gay Students Under Attack Nationwide

This article states:
Sexual orientation -- real or perceived -- was the second leading cause of bullying in schools, according to that online survey of 3,450 students between ages 13 and 18, which did not use a scientific sample.

Okay. We can debate about statistics -- but let's not. Whether or not the study was conducted in a rigorously scientific fashion, the situation it suggests is alarming.

The article also states:
Gay rights opponents say some schools and lawmakers have gone too far and actually are encouraging homosexuality among young people.
What the fuck? Encouraging homosexuality? It's a simple fact of life: you can't make a straight boy gay any more than you can make a gay boy straight.

Straight students explore their sexuality each and every day at school: they flirt, they hold hands walking through the halls and -- gasp -- they even kiss. Are educators and lawmakers encouraging these behaviors? No -- I think not. Providing a safe environment for gay students, then, isn't encouraging their behavior either, is it?

Study: 1 in 4 young Irish gays tried suicide

This article sites some disturbing statistics:
  • One-quarter of young gay or bisexual men in Northern Ireland have attempted suicide
  • 30 percent have self-harmed
  • Over two-thirds of the respondents have considered suicide
Some will probably refute these statistics. Others may even suggest that the prevalence of suicide among gay teens is a myth.

Ask yourself: why would a teen or anyone else, for that matter, contemplate suicide?

Consider, for a moment, being gay and growing up in a homophobic society. Imagine that one day you go to school and discover that someone has scrawled FAG across your locker in huge letters with an indelible marker and drawn lines on all of the others with arrows pointing at you. You go to that locker six times a day, and each time more and more spectators congregate. Most of them stand around whispering to each other and stare at you as if you're a carnival geek and your life is some fucking sideshow. You hear some of them laugh.

What would you do? How would you feel?

I can tell you how I felt, because it happened to me. I felt awful, afraid and completely alone. I wanted to die.

You can sit there and argue about the statistics all day. You can lament the tragedy and even recriminate these boys and girls for their so-called "selfish acts". You can spew all sorts of platitudes, even the cliche that "suicide is a permanent solution to temporary problems". But while you're sitting there trying to rationalize your prejudices and assuage your collective conscience, the world keeps spinning, and gay teens keep dying.
